Nova Scotia WCB sets maximum earnings for 2012

Maximum insurable earnings to increase $1,900

The Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia has set the maximum assessable and insurable earnings for 2012.

On Jan. 1, 2012, the maximum will rise to $53,900, a $1,900 increase from last year’s ceiling which was $52,000.

The figure is used by the WCB to determine the maximum benefit payable to injured workers, and also represents the maximum assessable earnings per worker to be reported by employers on 2012 payrolls.

The maximum is set at 135.7 per cent of the average industrial wage in Nova Scotia, and was based on information collected from April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2011.
