CRA releases new mobile app

Users can update contact details, enroll for direct deposit

OTTAWA — The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has released a new mobile app called MyCRA today. The app is available to all smartphone and tablet users, including mobile devises with internet access and mobile app use capability.

CRA’s high level of online security is comparable to all Canadian financial institutions for online banking.

With continual improvements and updates, users will soon be able to update their contact details, enroll for direct deposit, and check the status of their benefit applications.

Tax information that can be accessed includes:

•notices of assessment

•return status

•RRSP deduction and tax-free savings account (TFSA) contribution room

•benefit and credit payment dates

•child benefit credit payments

•a directory of EFILE tax professionals and a listing of free tax filing software

•the date and location of community volunteer income tax program clinics

•the CRA's charities listings.
