P.E.I.'s minimum wage going up

Wage will rise twice in 2014

Prince Edward Island's minimum wage is rising twice this year.

It will rise by 20 cents an hour — to $10.20 — as of June 1. On Oct. 1, it will rise another 15 cents an hour to $10.35.

The minimum wage has been $10 per hour since April 1, 2012.

A worker currently earning the minimum wage in P.E.I. makes $20,800 per year, assuming a 40-hour workweek. With the June 1 increase, that will rise to $21,216 and with the Oct. 1 increase it rises to $21,528.
