Quebec to increase minimum wage
Effective May 1, minimum wage will increase to $9.65 per hour from $9.50

Beginning May 1, 2011, the minimum wage in Quebec will increase from $9.50 per hour to $9.65, according to Labour Minister Lise Thériault.
Other minimum wage rates are expected to rise by the following amounts on that date:
•The minimum wage rate for employees who receive gratuities or tips will increase from $8.25 per hour to $8.35.
•The minimum wage rate in certain sectors of the clothing industry will rise from $9.50 per hour to $9.65.
•The minimum wage rate paid to employees who manually pick raspberries will increase from $2.80/kilogram to $2.84, while the rate for employees who manually pick strawberries will increase from $0.74 per kilogram to $0.75. Farm workers not assigned exclusively to picking strawberries and raspberries during a pay period would be paid the general minimum wage rate.
In addition, beginning May 1, 2014, the general minimum wage rate would apply to all agricultural workers.
